NBA All Star starters

So, last week the NBA has released the list for the All Star starters for the East and West.  Truthfully, I am divided with the results.  For the East, pretty much everyone that I voted for was selected except for one.  For the West, only three made it.

Well, let’s bring out the list, shall we?

EAST
WEST

JAMES, LEBRON F ANTHONY, CARMELO
STOUDEMIRE, AMAR’E F DURANT, KEVIN
HOWARD, DWIGHT C MING, YAO
ROSE, DERRICK G BRYANT, KOBE
WADE, DWAYNE G PAUL, CHRIS

Truth be told, I really want them to implement a simple rule in choosing an All Star participant for the games.  There should only be one All Star participant per team.

Okay don’t get me wrong but this is just my opinion.  I mean, there are a lot of players out there that deserve to be on the All Star but since their team is having a bad season, the chances of them being selected to be part of the team, even as a reserve player, becomes slim.

In any case, the selected coaches for the All Star teams bears the responsibility of selecting the reserves for each team.  But it would really be nice if the NBA does decide to implement this rule.

  1. Good post, I think your idea only partially makes sense though. I really do think it is unfair too that player’s on losing teams get snubbed just because their team isn’t any good. It’s not their fault that their team is bad generally, and usually by themselves they can’t single handedly turn it around. With that being said, I think that if you only allow 1 per team there would be a lot of up roar because imagine a situation Wade and Lebron didn’t both make the all-star game? Even Kobe and Gasol or something like that. It’s an interesting thought, but with the increasing amount of guys teaming up, I just don’t think it is feasible.

    • I know what you mean… I had a discussion with a friend of mine here about that as well and he is of similar opinion as you. But it really is unfair to the other players that they don’t get chosen because their team is not performing well.

What really bothers me is that sometimes, there are 3 or 4 more members from one team on the All Star Team… I mean just try to imagine if the EAST team will look like this…

JAMES, WADE, ROSE, STOUDEMIRE, HOWARD… then PIERCE, GARNETT, R. ALLEN, RONDO, BOSH, C. BOOZER, and one more center… If this is how the EAST team will look like, it’s like the EAST is only represented by 5 teams… thats unfair to the others.

Still, it all depends upon the coaches…
