Mavs and Heat… the rematch

As much as I was hoping that the Chicago Bulls will somehow pull off an upset and win the Eastern Conference Title, it was not meant to be.  In the end it was Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh that prevailed.

So, its going to be the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat for the NBA Finals.  The last time that these two teams met was during the 2006 NBA Finals, with the Heat winning the trophy.  At that time, the Mavs lead with 2 wins at their home court before the Heat took 4 straight wins to win the series.  For the Mavs, they had Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, and Jerry Stackhouse to lead the team while the Heat had the combination of Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O’Neal.

For these year, Dirk still lead the Mavs… with Jason Kidd, Jason Terry and Tyson Chandler.  While the Heat still has Wade, only this time he is with James and Bosh.  This will be a match-up between two former MVP players.  Among the All-Star players, only Wade has ever won a ring.  This match is between who really wants it the most.

So who’s your bet, Dallas or Miami?  Me, I’m sticking with Dirk and the Mavericks.  I think its his time to win a championship ring.

  1. Nice blog. I think you are right. I think Dallas will win it or better yet I am hoping that they do. Not that I have anything vested in their win… But they did dismantle my Lakers.

  2. Thank you for liking my post.

Anyway, part of the reason that I am rooting for Mavs is the way they dismantled the Lakers and OKC in the playoffs.

Still, it will not be easy facing Miami’s big three… I do hope they win though.

  3. Yeah Dallas looks like they are on a mission. I haven’t seen them look this good since they made it to the Finals in 06. They are playing very well defensively as well. Miami is playing very well to, especially on the defensive end. Should be a great series. I do think Dallas has what it takes to beat the Big 3 of Miami but Dirk and Terry will have to shoulder a huge load. I will go out on a limb and say this year Mavs prevail 4-2.

  4. What you say is true indeed… it should be a great series. Also, I think the Mavs will need to rely on Stojakovic and Kidd for this one. I just hope they don’t blow it off.

For me, my bet is Mavs win at Game 7. It should be pretty sweet beating the Miami Heat at their home court.
